What is so encapsulating about love that lovers go weak in the knees and cannot help but think about each other?
He approached her. He got to know that she had broken up with her boyfriend. So, he approached her. She knew him well. They both have been talking for quite some time now. He thought it was a good time for him to let her know how he exactly felt.
So, he told her. He said, “I don’t think it is bad enough if we go out someday. Just you and I. I really want to talk to you about something.” Her reply wasn’t a surprise. She said yes.
She did not expect anything from him. He was just a good friend. She went. They had lasagna and iced tea. Then, all of a sudden, he held her hand and told her that he was always jealous of her ex. She couldn’t look him in the eye. She was taken aback. He was literally head over heels in love with her. She could see it. Even if he did not manage to say it properly. She could tell.
She thought to give it try.
And the time that followed was the best time of her life. He took care of her like a baby. He wanted to ensure that he never hurt her, like her ex did. He had made some very big promises to her.
She was living the fairy-tale she had always dreamed of. She finally gave up her apprehensions. She fell deeply in love with him. She trusted him. She used to daydream about their future together, about the promises he made to her, about the dreams he showed her.
Then one day, everything changed.
Love is a double-edged sword. Like always, she was checking his messages. Not spying on him. He used to ask her to check his messages. And she found out that he wasn’t loyal. Then why did he told her to check his messages? Wasn’t he afraid of getting caught? She didn’t say anything. But she lost the trust she had in him.
He used to chat with two girls with whom he had a fling with in the past. And it was not a casual chat. It was intense. The kind which you do not expect your lover to share with anybody else, but you.
Then followed the fights. She lost her trust. She could not find the courage to confront him. But she knew he was an infidel.
Some days would be better. He would treat her like the most important person in his life. But most days were bad. She was like a side chick for him. Why did he behave like this?
What was with all those promises?
She finally found the courage to leave him.
He approached her. She was alright with being alone. But he assured her that he would never hurt her. He was the one who made promises of a happy life together. He was the one who made her fell in love with him. And then, he only cheated her? What could be a possible explanation for this? Was it his habit? Or was he really true to her and all this was just a big misunderstanding?
She loved him. But it was for the best. For him to not be a cheater. And for her to not be a victim.
